Your pet has nutritional and dietary needs to be healthy and happy. We are here to advise you on how you can benefit from a well-balanced diet.

what you need to know

What is the importance of a balanced diet and the presence of a diet?

About the balanced diet

Quality food is important for achieving the right nutritional balance and the right amounts of vitamins and minerals.

A good example is “taurine”, a very important and essential amino acid that is obtained through nutrition. Without it, cats can develop heart disease.

But when you have a complete and balanced diet, you don’t have to worry that your pet is deficient in nutrients. The right food is really all they need!

About the healthy weight

Unfortunately, being overweight can lead to a variety of medical problems, including arthritis, back problems, ligament and tendon injuries, diabetes, and others.

Of course, there are many factors – including exercise and lifestyle – that contribute to your dog’s or cat’s weight.

But nutrition is one of the key factors. The type of food you eat – as well as how much of it you eat – can have a significant effect on your four-legged friend’s weight.

How can we help you with the nutrition and behavior of your dog or cat?

Some issues we can advise you on are:

Diet and nutrition

From puppy and kitten to adults and seniors, what your pet eats plays a big role in their overall health and quality of life.

Food allergies

Food allergies can be difficult to diagnose because they often share symptoms with many other pet health problems.

Diabetes and obesity

Diabetes is a serious medical condition in dogs and cats, but it can often be managed and many cats and dogs with diabetes live happily and fully.

Healthy weight

Your pet’s weight is a big part of their overall health, and it has a lot to do not only with how they look, but also how they feel.

Alternative diets

Alternative diets for cats and dogs are popular and vary according to the age, breed and needs of your pet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes! We look forward to meeting you and your fluffy family member soon.
How many calories does my dog or cat need?
We can give you general guidelines on how many calories your friend needs per day, based on their age, weight, activity level, health history and other factors.

We will then turn it into a certain amount of wet food or dry food (or both, if they prefer a mixture) for eating. We will also help you consider the treats – because the treats in moderation are perfectly suitable for most pets!

The importance of a balanced diet
Quality food is important for achieving the right nutritional balance and the right amounts of important vitamins and minerals.

Sometimes, with lower quality foods, your pet may miss something. A good example is “taurine”, a very important and essential amino acid that is obtained through nutrition. Without it, cats develop heart disease.

But when you have a complete and balanced diet, you won’t have to worry that your pet is deficient in nutrients – and you won’t have to give them any vitamins. The right food is really all they need!

Does my pet need supplements?
Although a healthy diet covers all the basic nutritional requirements – some dogs and cats can benefit from certain supplements.

Common examples include glucosamine (for joint health) or probiotics and prebiotics (for digestive and immune system health) – coenzyme Q10 for a healthy heart and energy in older patients, as well as omega 3 as a protector against oxidative stress.

We will let you know if this is recommended based on your pet’s age and medical history.

My pet has an allergy. What can I do?

Unfortunately, food sensitivity is a common problem for dogs and cats.

This often causes skin symptoms (such as itching, redness, hair loss, oily or smelly hair, and infections), but can also occur in other ways.

Most dogs and cats are sensitive to the protein in food, such as chicken.

But they can be allergic to almost anything, and often finding the culprit requires eliminating foods on a schedule. If this is recommended for your pet, we’ll explain exactly how it works.

If you suspect that your pet may have a food sensitivity or want to learn more about it, contact us to help.
